چکیده

Owing to the specific characteristics of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), demands and applications increase dramatically for them being deployed in confined or closed space surveying, inspection detection substitute human. However, Global Positioning System (GPS) may lose effectiveness become unavailable due potential signal block interference that operational environment. Under such circumstances, an imperative requirement on new positioning technology UAV has emerged. With rapid development Radio Frequency (RF) based localisation technologies, leveraging small wireless sensor nodes low-cost, low latency, energy consumption accurate received significant attention. no up-to-date review been conducted this area so far. Therefore, paper aims give a comprehensive survey RF systems with different radio communication technologies mechanisms positioning. Toward end, exhaustive evaluation framework is first established evaluate performance each system from perspectives. Particularly, Ultra-wideband (UWB) time-based highlighted under consideration proposed framework. Finally, intensive analysis about current challenges research issues order identify promising directions future research.

A Ground-Based Near Infrared Camera Array System for UAV Auto-Landing in GPS-Denied Environment

This paper proposes a novel infrared camera array guidance system with capability to track and provide real time position and speed of a fixed-wing Unmanned air vehicle (UAV) during a landing process. The system mainly include three novel parts: (1) Infrared camera array and near infrared laser lamp based cooperative long range optical imaging module; (2) Large scale outdoor camera array calibr...

Cooperative Localisation of a GPS-Denied UAV in 3-Dimensional Space Using Direction of Arrival Measurements

This paper presents a novel approach for localising a GPS (Global Positioning System)-denied Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) with the aid of a GPS-equipped UAV in three-dimensional space. The GPS-equipped UAV makes discrete-time broadcasts of its global coordinates. The GPS-denied UAV receives the broadcast and in doing so takes a direction of arrival (DOA) measurement towards the origin of the b...

Gps-denied Geo-localisation Using Visual Odometry

The primary method for geo-localization is based on GPS which has issues of localization accuracy, power consumption, and unavailability. This paper proposes a novel approach to geo-localization in a GPS-denied environment for a mobile platform. Our approach has two principal components: public domain transport network data available in GIS databases or OpenStreetMap; and a trajectory of a mobi...

Velocity estimation of an UAV in a GPS-denied environment with IMU and visual data

This paper proposes two methods for UAV translational velocity estimation only based on the use of onboard sensing. Spherical image measurements provided by a single onboard camera, along with IMU data consist the main information feeding the estimators. Two different algorithms are proposed, based on a common formalism, that are designed with Lyapunov synthesis and by using an Unscented Kalman...

UAV Circumnavigating an Unknown Target Under a GPS-denied Environment with Range-only Measurements

One typical application of unmanned aerial vehicles is the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance mission, where the objective is to improve situation awareness through information acquisition. For examples, an efficient way to gather information regarding a target is to deploy UAV in such a way that it orbits around this target at a desired distance. Such a UAV motion is called circumn...
